Job Description
A respected healthcare system in Lansing, Michigan is seeking a Locums Neonatology Physician to provide coverage in a busy Level III NICU and Special Care Nursery setting. This opportunity offers a collaborative neonatal care environment with advanced clinical resources, dedicated NICU support staff, and a balanced schedule consisting of daytime coverage and overnight home call responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is fellowship-trained in Neonatology and experienced managing high-acuity neonatal patients, advanced ventilator support, and neonatal procedures in a Level III NICU environment.

Position Details
- Assignment Dates: July 1, 2026 July 1, 2027
- Practice Setting: Level III NICU & Special Care Nursery
- Shift Structure:
- Day Shift: 10-hour shifts
- Night Shift: 14-hour home call
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Call Requirements: Yes
- Physician must be able to arrive onsite within 30 minutes if called in
- Call Ratio: 1:4
- EMR System: EPIC
- Average Daily Census: 31 patients
- Average Admissions Per Day: 3
- Bed Capacity:
- 33 licensed NICU beds
- 12 Special Care Nursery beds
- 2 bassinets
- 47 total beds
- Provide comprehensive neonatal care within a Level III NICU
- Attend high-risk deliveries and Cesarean sections
- Manage critically ill neonates requiring advanced respiratory support
- Provide ventilation management including:
- BiPAP/CPAP
- Oscillator ventilator support
- Nitric Oxide (iNO)
- Perform neonatal procedures including:
- Chest tube insertion
- Central line placement
- Arterial line insertion
- PA catheter insertion
- Umbilical Venous Catheterization (UVC)
- Umbilical Artery Catheterization (UAC)
- PICC placement
- Participate in neonatal resuscitation and emergency management
- Potential supervision and collaboration with Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR
- MD or DO required
- Fellowship-trained in Neonatology required
- Board Certified in Neonatology required
- Active Michigan medical license required
- Current NALS certification required
