Job Summary

The Davenport Screw Machine Set-Up Operator is responsible for independently setting up and running two machines in a high-pace, precision-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience setting up and maintaining two machines.

• Ability to position and secure cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.

• Skilled in setting tools in holders, establishing cutting speeds, and feed rates.

• Experience cycling machines through settings, making precise adjustments for timing, clearance, and chip removal.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine maintenance to ensure machine reliability and performance.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-changeover environment.

Role Breakdown

• Machine Set-Up & Operation – Prepare, adjust, and operate two Davenport Screw Machines to produce high-precision parts.

• Quality Assurance – Monitor and inspect output to ensure compliance with specifications, making real-time adjustments as needed.

• Maintenance & Troubleshooting – Conduct general maintenance, identify issues, and keep machines operating at peak performance.

• Process Improvement – Contribute to workflow efficiency, share insights for optimization, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

• Team Contribution – Collaborate with fellow operators, share knowledge, and maintain high standards of quality, integrity, and customer service.

• Work Schedule –

  • Office: 8 hours/day, Monday–Friday

  • Shop: 10 hours/day, Monday–Thursday

  • First Shift: 5:30 am – 4:00 pm

  • Second Shift: 3:30 pm – 1:30 am
