Title – Construction Manager
Type (Contract to Hire/Contract) – 6 months CTH
Location – Austin, TX
Pay Rate - $55-65/hr
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In this role, you will oversee electrical systems and energization efforts throughout all construction phases, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. You will actively monitor site execution, inspections, and contractor performance to maintain compliance with internal quality assurance and commissioning procedures. A critical part of your day will involve collaborating with design teams to resolve field clashes and proactively identifying potential issues by verifying site conditions against contract documents. You will track project costs, compare actual spend to budget, and recommend value engineering solutions to optimize financial performance. Additionally, you will manage RFIs and submittals, oversee contractor invoices, and maintain project schedules in alignment with project documentation. You will also lead project buyout activities, including developing bid packages, coordinating with procurement on RFP issuance, drafting scopes of work and contracts, and issuing work orders. Throughout the project, you will ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and local codes while maintaining strong communication with contractors, engineering teams, and QA/commissioning stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of experience in commercial construction, project management, or engineering
- Proven experience managing projects within large manufacturing plants, industrial environments, or similar settings
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction practices, codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, manage multiple priorities, and drive projects forward effectively
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours with a results-driven, proactive mindset
- Experience with large-scale EPCI projects is preferred
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus
