Job Description

Press Operator (Digital)

We are seeking a motivated, mechanically inclined Digital Press Operator who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. This role is critical to producing high-quality, color-accurate printed materials using advanced digital press technology.

The Digital Press Operator manages the full production cycle—from file verification and press setup to print execution and quality control. Precision, color consistency, and attention to detail are essential. You will ensure all work meets customer specifications, brand standards, production deadlines, and safety requirements.

Schedule: Full-time, second shift
Workweek Options: Flexible 5-day or 4-day schedule
Compensation: Competitive and negotiable based on experience

This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with industry-leading digital press equipment while directly contributing to workflow efficiency, production excellence, and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up, operate, and maintain high-speed digital production presses, including a Konica Minolta KM-1e inkjet press and Canon toner devices.
  • Perform job setup including substrate selection, paper handling configuration, color calibration, and press profiling
  • Review and interpret job tickets, imposition layouts, and production specifications to ensure accurate output
  • Monitor color consistency, registration, density, and overall print quality throughout production runs
  • Adjust press settings for various substrates, weights, coatings, and specialty media
  • Execute variable data and short-run digital jobs with accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance to ensure optimal press performance
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, software, or print-quality issues; coordinate with service technicians as needed
  • Maintain inventory of toner, drums, paper stock, and other consumables
  • Communicate effectively with prepress to ensure proper file workflow
  • Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
  • Lift and move materials up to 75 pounds
  • Collaborate with finishing and fulfillment teams to meet daily production goals
  • Perform other duties as needed to support production operations

What We’re Looking For

  • Prior digital press experience in a commercial printing environment preferred
  • Experience operating a Konica Minolta KM-1e inkjet press, or comparable production-level digital presses strongly preferred. We are willing to train an experienced press operator with related digital equipment experience.
  • Understanding of digital color management, calibration, and quality control processes
  • Experience with variable data printing and short-run production workflows is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret job tickets and production instructions
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 75 pounds
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment

Training is available for mechanically inclined candidates eager to advance into high-level digital press operations.
