Job Description
Family Law Associate Attorney (2–5 Years' Experience)
Join a High-Tech, Litigation-Focused Family Law Firm
Are you passionate about family law and committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of clients facing some of life's most difficult challenges?
IWANYSHYN & ASSOCIATES is seeking a motivated and ambitious Family Law Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. We represent clients in divorce, equitable distribution, child custody, support, Protection From Abuse (PFA) matters, and complex financial litigation throughout Allegheny, Butler, Beaver, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties.
Our firm is known for handling challenging family law cases involving sophisticated financial issues, forensic accounting, hidden income investigations, and complex support and equitable distribution matters. If you enjoy both litigation and financial analysis, this position offers a unique opportunity to develop skills that few family law attorneys possess.
Why Join Us?
We are a high-tech, fully paperless law firm that embraced digital practice long before it became commonplace. Our attorneys and staff utilize advanced legal technology, document automation, cloud-based systems, and Microsoft Teams to collaborate efficiently and provide exceptional client service.
You will not spend your time reinventing the wheel. We use proven document templates, advanced support calculation software, and proprietary systems for preparing Marital Asset and Liability Summaries, child support analyses, and complex financial presentations for settlement negotiations and court proceedings.
Our attorneys enjoy meaningful courtroom experience, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to work on intellectually challenging cases with strong mentorship and support.
What You'll Do
Represent clients in divorce, equitable distribution, custody, support, and PFA matters.
Handle cases from initial consultation through final resolution.
Conduct hearings, conferences and conciliations, depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, briefs, and settlement agreements.
Review and analyze financial records, tax returns, business records, and other financial documentation.
Prepare and argue Motions to Compel and other discovery-related motions.
Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients in contested proceedings.
Work with forensic accounting concepts and financial investigations when appropriate.
Develop case strategies and maintain strong client relationships throughout the litigation process.
What We're Looking For
Licensed Pennsylvania attorney in good standing.
Two to five years of family law experience.
Strong litigation and courtroom advocacy skills.
Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical abilities.
Ability to understand and analyze financial records and tax returns.
Strong organizational and case management skills.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple active matters.
Compassionate, professional, and client-focused.
Bonus Points If You Have
Experience handling high-asset divorce matters.
Experience with complex support litigation.
Knowledge of forensic accounting concepts and financial tracing.
Experience identifying hidden income or assets.
Training in mediation or collaborative law.
Familiarity with post-judgment collection procedures.
Work Environment & Flexibility
Our office is conveniently located in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, on Route 8 (William Flynn Highway), between Pittsburgh and Butler.
Attorneys initially work primarily in-office to become familiar with our systems, procedures, and client service standards. As attorneys demonstrate reliability, responsiveness, strong work ethic, and dedication to client outcomes, opportunities for increased remote work may become available.
Because courtroom advocacy is a significant component of this position, candidates must reside within the region and be able to regularly attend in-person court appearances throughout Allegheny, Butler, Beaver, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties.
We believe flexibility should be supported by performance, professionalism, and accountability.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $85,000 – $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Benefits include:
401(k) retirement plan
Medical Reimbursement Account
Paid vacation
Paid sick leave
Paid holidays
Free parking
Professional development opportunities
Advancement potential within the firm
