Tartine Bakery is growing! We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming opening in Strawberry Village, Mill Valley, CA., in the 2nd QTR of 2026.
We’re looking for an experienced Chef to lead this new location with our BOH operations, embody our hospitality values, and help deliver the distinct Tartine experience with familiar comforts presented in a way you’ve never experienced before, from a warm loaf of bread to a perfectly brewed cup of coffee.
As part of our vibrant and passionate team, you will build, develop, and inspire a team that serves with care and intentionality while maintaining the operational excellence Tartine is known for.
About the Role
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a culinary leader with a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. As the Chef, you will oversee kitchen and bakery operations, and people management to ensure high-quality food production and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking activities
- Develop innovative menu items while maintaining consistency and quality
- Manage inventory levels, ordering, and cost control measures
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with management to plan special events, banquets, and catering services
- Train and mentor kitchen employees on culinary techniques and best practices
- Oversee shift management to maintain smooth kitchen operations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chef or similar role in the food industry
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, menu development, and food presentation
- Proficiency in inventory control, cost management, and kitchen operations
- Understanding of food safety standards and sanitation regulations
- Experience in banquet or catering services is a plus
- Bartending skills are advantageous for creating beverage pairings
