Position Summary:
A prominent litigation law firm located in Century City, with its focus in the areas of business, entertainment, employment, intellectual property and real estate, is seeking a Legal Assistant with extensive knowledge in litigation to join a growing team of legal professionals. The candidate must be detail-oriented, possess the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain an efficient workflow, often in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Format, edit, and proof correspondence, discovery and pleadings, including creating TOAs and TOCs and compiling exhibits.
- Draft routine correspondence and emails.
- Prepare and file documents in state, federal, and appellate courts.
- Maintain attorneys’ calendar including, but not limited to, schedule meetings, depositions, mediations, teleconferences and travel.
- Proactively manage multiple docket entries with knowledge of procedural rules and deadlines.
- Open and maintain new matters including, but not limited to, preparing engagement letters, manage client documents and case files.
- Assist with all aspects of preparation for hearings and trials.
- Collaborate with other Litigation Assistants within the firm.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of litigation experience in a law firm as a Litigation Assistant or other litigation practice specialist.
- Knowledge of superior and federal courts rules and procedures and filing of same, including motion practice and under-seal filings.
- Possess strong spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
- Takes initiative and works with limited supervision in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task at a high-volume desk.
- Excellent word processing skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with iManage and CompuLaw.
- Proficient in Adobe and Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work overtime, evenings and weekends, as needed.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree or some college is preferred.
Work Environment:
- The current firm’s policy is hybrid–working in the office a minimum of four days per week and one day from home (subject to change).
