The Opportunity
Paralegals on our Employment Wage & Hour Settlement Team support attorneys and partners in finalizing class, PAGA, and individual wage-and-hour settlements. This role manages a high volume of settlement workflows and requires strong organization, resourcefulness, and meticulous attention to detail. Experience in employment law and/or settlement administration is highly desirable.
Accountable for
- Prepare, proofread, and edit settlement-related correspondence, letters, pleadings, and discovery documents.
- Assist in drafting and formatting MOUs and long-form settlement agreements under attorney supervision.
- Support attorneys in preparing motions for preliminary and final approval in class and PAGA settlements.
- Draft declarations and gather supporting evidence for settlement approval filings.
- Coordinate with clients to collect required settlement information and documentation.
- Communicate with third-party settlement administrators and assist with reviewing and finalizing settlement administration reports.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for settlement and Wage & Hour matters.
- Maintain case files and organize settlement documents within the Firm’s case/document management system.
- Assist with hearing, mediation, and arbitration preparation as required.
- Manage calendars, deadlines, and project workflows within the Settlement Department.
- Provide general administrative and organizational support to the Settlement Team.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Paralegal experience in Labor & Employment, Wage & Hour, or class/PAGA matters.
- Experience assisting with settlement agreements, MOUs, and settlement-approval filings strongly preferred.
- Well-versed in e-filing in State and Federal courts and administrative agencies.
- Experience with propounding/responding to discovery, calendaring deadlines, and supporting mediation/arbitration preparation.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Strong organization and time-management ability, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient with legal research platforms (LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar).
- Experience with Litify or similar case/document management systems.
- Spanish fluency and proficiency with Microsoft 365 strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree a plus.
