Our client is a hospital in Sacramento, CA, seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director to lead their team. For over 60 years, this full-service veterinary hospital has been providing compassionate and high-quality care to cats and dogs throughout the Sacramento area. Known for combining state-of-the-art medicine with exceptional client service, the hospital offers urgent, emergency, surgical, and comprehensive veterinary care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. This is a full-time Medical Director position, providing consistent weekday hours without after-hours responsibilities.
Role Description and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Medical Director with strong leadership skills and a passion for veterinary excellence. Responsibilities include overseeing the hospital's medical operations, mentoring associate veterinarians, and ensuring regulatory compliance while providing the highest standard of patient care. Clinical responsibilities encompass preventive wellness care, internal medicine, geriatric care, dentistry, emergency services, and surgical procedures. Surgeries regularly performed include soft tissue, orthopedic, spays and neuters, C-sections, mass removals, foreign body extractions, wound repairs, and dental surgeries. In addition to clinical work, you will collaborate with the leadership team to support the financial health of the practice and foster a culture of teamwork, compassion, and professional growth.
Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, full-service facility offering a wide scope of veterinary services. Advanced in-house diagnostic capabilities include digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, ECG/EKG, digital dental radiography, and a comprehensive laboratory for bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal exams. In addition to preventive and routine care, the hospital provides emergency care, hospice and end-of-life support, and boarding services, ensuring comprehensive care for patients at every life stage.
Team
The hospital is currently led by one DVM supported by a skilled team of veterinary technicians and support staff. The environment is collaborative and client-focused, designed to provide exceptional medical care while fostering teamwork and a positive, supportive culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
