The full story:
Background
Taxi Management LLC is the largest taxi company in Las Vegas, Nevada, providing top-notch transportation services for locals and visitors alike. With a fleet of 1,600+ vehicles and 2,400+ professional drivers, Taxi Management aims to provide a comfortable and safe journey for every passenger. As the overall management company for several individual taxicab companies, Taxi Management handles numerous business operations in-house, including legal/claims, driver training, vehicle repair, accounting, dispatch, HR, and more.
Challenges
After downsizing in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Taxi Management has been gradually rebuilding and restaffing its business. When hiring for management, legal, finance, and other high-level positions, Taxi Management found that general job boards were attracting unqualified, irrelevant candidates.
With a two-person team handling recruitment, Taxi Management had limited time and resources for reviewing hundreds of unqualified resumes. According to Sheila Robertson, who manages recruiting while wearing many other hats (including serving as Senior Paralegal, Executive Secretary, and Assistant Facilities Manager), Taxi Management was finding that applicants from general job boards lacked the basic requirements they specified in their ads – almost as if they did not pay any attention to the job description.
Solutions
After researching alternatives to general job boards, Sheila decided to try iHire, an industry-specific employment platform with 57 talent communities such as iHireAutomotiveProfessionals, iHireAccounting, and iHireLegal. The industry-focused sites aligned with the types of positions Taxi Management needed to fill, and each comprised a talent pool of engaged, career-driven candidates.
To advertise its job openings, Taxi Management opted for iHire’s Job Slots – flexible and interchangeable subscription-based postings. When Sheila posts jobs, they are promoted to matching candidates on their iHire dashboards, in search results, and via branded job alert emails. With a 3-Slot subscription, Sheila can advertise multiple jobs at once, swap in new ads as positions are filled, and change geographic and industry targeting options as needed.
After posting a job, Sheila works closely with iHire’s Hiring Success Specialists, who serve as an extension of the organization’s recruitment team. iHire’s experts help refine job descriptions based on how well they perform to ensure they attract the right candidates. Often, Sheila collaborates with iHire to make the ad clearer and more concise with the right keywords, sometimes using iHire’s AI-powered Job Ad Builder to further polish the post.
Additionally, Taxi Management set up a free company profile on iHire’s platform that showcases its culture, benefits, branding, current job openings, and Choice Employer designation – a free program that gives organizations extra job ad exposure for pledging to treat job seekers well.
Results
Since partnering with iHire in 2020, Taxi Management has consistently found qualified candidates and filled several positions with strong talent. They have advertised approximately 30 positions and counting, ranging from Controllers and Accounting Clerks to Litigation Attorneys and Claims Adjusters. All postings have received a 6.4% view-to-apply rate (i.e., for every 100 job posting views, 6.4 people apply), which is above the industry average.
With high-quality candidates, Sheila can more easily review resumes and pass off strong applicants to their respective departments for interviews. And, because she doesn’t waste time on irrelevant applicants, she can focus on other priorities such as managing legal matters and board of directors activities.
“iHire has been absolutely excellent in helping to find us high-level management and even garage personnel,” Sheila said. “We get good applications; we get them quickly. If I have any questions, my representative is always available to answer them. It’s the best website that we’re using in order to hire people, and we have pretty much been using all of them.”
After experiencing so much success in finding legal, financial, and other management personnel, Taxi Management has begun advertising Driver positions on iHireTransportation.
“Since we started using iHire, I’ve pretty much cancelled most subscriptions because between iHireLegal.com, iHireFinance.com, iHireAutomotiveProfessionals.com, and all the other departments they have, they have been able to give us exactly what I need,” Sheila concluded.
