Job Description

Dental Professional Coordinator (Houston, TX)

Full-Time | Salaried | 40 hrs/week
Location Requirement: Must reside in the Houston, TX area

About the Role

UEM is seeking a credentialed dental professional (DDS) to support our Houston-based BSBF dental van team. This role blends community engagement, program coordination, and field execution, making it ideal for someone passionate about public health and who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The Dental Professional Coordinator plays a critical role in delivering the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® (BSBF) program by providing oral health education, coordinating dental screenings, and leading volunteer engagement efforts.

This role ensures the BSBF dental van team is fully prepared for all visits, maintains strong referral networks, and builds partnerships with dental professionals and organizations throughout the community.

You will work closely with the Local Coordinator, Community Awareness Representative (CAR), and program leadership to deliver high-quality, impactful experiences for children and families.

Important Note: While this role serves the community, it is a corporate-sponsored initiative under Colgate-Palmolive’s community outreach programs, not a government or public service position.

This is a full-time role with a non-traditional schedule that balances fieldwork, event execution, and remote administrative responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

Oral Health Education & Screenings

  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate oral health education to children and families (virtual and in-person)
  • Conduct non-invasive (no-probing) dental screenings for children ages 1–12, in accordance with BSBF guidelines
  • Prepare, organize, and transport all educational and screening materials for visits
  • Develop and maintain a robust dental referral network for follow-up care

Dental Partnerships & Volunteer Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with dental practices, universities, associations, and community organizations
  • Recruit, onboard, and vet dental and non-dental volunteers, including credential verification
  • Manage volunteer scheduling and communications (e.g., SignUpGenius, inbound inquiries)
  • Ensure volunteers are informed, prepared, and aligned with program expectations

Program Operations & Logistics

  • Support daily program operations, including scheduling, supply management, and reporting
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of on-site and virtual events
  • Maintain proper sanitation and sterilization of materials and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all program standards and operational procedures

Administration & Reporting

  • Accurately collect, track, and report screening and program data
  • Maintain organized records, databases, and scheduling systems, including:
    • Visit request tracking systems
    • Volunteer coordination tools
    • Program reporting logs and agreements
  • Participate in weekly meetings, quarterly planning sessions, and team huddles

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (especially with children and families)
  • Ability to confidently conduct screenings and interact with diverse populations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable using technology (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, scheduling tools)
  • Self-starter with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Passion for oral health, public health, and community engagement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active dental credentials (Texas) DDS
  • Background in dental hygiene, public health, or health education
  • Experience in community outreach, volunteer coordination, or event-based programs
  • Familiarity with working alongside dental professionals or in clinical environments

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Must reside in the Houston, TX area
  • Must have a reliable home workspace for remote responsibilities
  • Reliable transportation required for local travel and event support
  • Ability to travel as needed for program support

Compensation & Support

  • Company-issued laptop and tech support
  • Mileage reimbursement at the current IRS rate
  • Travel arrangements (airfare, hotel, car rental) coordinated through UEM
  • Reimbursement for approved travel expenses (hotel, rental car)
  • Daily meal allowance ($55/day for approved travel)
  • Collaborative, mission-driven team environment

Why Join This Program?

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical knowledge, community impact, and program leadership—helping improve the oral health and overall well-being of children in underserved communities.
