Position Summary:

SUNY Upstate is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Operating Room (RNOR) to support surgical services on a temporary assignment. The RNOR will provide high quality perioperative nursing care, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the interdisciplinary surgical team to ensure patient safety
and optimal outcomes before, during, and after surgical procedures.This is a temporary assignment from March 2026-July 2026

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, effective perioperative nursing care in accordance with established clinical standards and hospital policies
- Prepare operating rooms, including equipment, instruments, and supplies, for scheduled surgical procedures
- Assess patients preoperatively and participate in intraoperative and
postoperative care as assigned
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere strictly to infection control and safety protocols
- Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures as needed
- Accurately document patient care, procedures, and outcomes in the medical record
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the surgical team
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and changes in patient condition

Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Previous Operating Room nursing experience
- Strong knowledge of perioperative practices, sterile technique, and patient safety standards
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a hospital or academic medical center setting
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support); ACLS preferred depending on unit
requirements
