Interim Accountant

Our client, a growing electrical contracting company, is seeking an Interim Accountant to join their team. As an Interim Accountant , you will be part of the Accounting/Finance department supporting payroll operations, job costing, and system optimization efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to streamline and validate accounting workflows.

• Rebuild and validate a new QuickBooks company file in parallel with a third-party system.
• Create and implement updated payroll templates that accurately match union liabilities 1:1.
• Develop and refine reports to show multijob cost visibility, including labor, materials, expenses, and liability allocation.
• Ensure union liabilities are correctly applied to job costs, including hourforhour liability matching.
• Prepare raw data exports and timestamped records to support analytics and future AI-driven processes.

• Advanced QuickBooks Enterprise experience, including payroll configuration and job costing.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes; prior inhouse payroll experience required.
• Experience with union payroll or union reporting (Chicago electrical unions preferred).
• Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies between actual union payments and QuickBooks entries.
• Ability to work onsite initially, with hybrid flexibility once ramped up.
