Position Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified (DACVIM – Oncology) or Residency-Trained Veterinary Oncologist to provide advanced cancer diagnostics, treatment planning, and compassionate patient care.
You will collaborate closely with surgery, internal medicine, anesthesia, and emergency services to deliver coordinated, multidisciplinary oncology care.
This role is ideal for a specialist who values clinical excellence, collaboration, and service-line development.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and manage a wide range of oncologic conditions in small animal patients
Develop individualized cancer treatment plans including:
Chemotherapy
Immunotherapy
Targeted therapy
Palliative and quality-of-life care
Administer and monitor chemotherapy protocols safely and effectively
Perform and interpret cancer staging diagnostics
Coordinate biopsy and histopathology interpretation
Collaborate with surgical specialists on oncologic surgical planning
Provide end-of-life and quality-of-life consultations
Utilize advanced diagnostics including:
CT
Ultrasound
Digital radiography
Fluoroscopy
Fully equipped in-house laboratory
Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options
Maintain detailed, accurate medical records
Professional Contributions
Mentor and support veterinary technicians in chemotherapy handling and oncology protocols
Build strong referral relationships with regional general practitioners
Contribute to the strategic development and growth of the oncology service
Participate in multidisciplinary case rounds
Engage in continuing education and remain current with advancements in veterinary oncology
Support a culture of accountability, empathy, collaboration, and mutual respect
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)
Board-Certified (DACVIM – Oncology) or Residency-Trained in Veterinary Oncology
Active California veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain)
Proficiency in chemotherapy protocols and oncologic case management
Commitment to high-quality, evidence-based oncology care
Strong client communication and end-of-life counseling skills
Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary specialty environment
Growth-oriented and collaborative mindset

Primarily weekday specialty hours
Flexible scheduling discussions available

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $200,000 – $350,000+ annually
