Job Type: Full-time - 40 hours per week with paid overtime.
Location: Remote. This position requires California residency.
Salary: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 (salary varies based on your skill level and experience).

This Opportunity
As a Civil Engineer at JMA, you will play a pivotal role in designing and managing transformative transportation projects that shape the future of California’s transportation systems. This role is deeply rooted in transportation design—covering alignments, profiles, grading, drainage, utility coordination, and preparation of PS&E packages.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in civil transportation engineering, with hands-on experience using design software such as Civil 3D and OpenRoads. Who You Are:
- Professional Engineering License (Civil): Must be licensed in California.
- Experience: 5+ years in civil design, construction, or project management, with 3+ years on U.S.-based projects.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Bentley OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil engineering standards and design principles.

What You’ll Do & Learn:
- Transportation Design: Develop designs for railroad and transit facilities, creating detailed plans for major infrastructure projects.
- Construction Drawings & Specifications: Lead the preparation of comprehensive construction documents and specification packages.
- Grading & Drainage: Execute precise grading and drainage designs tailored to project needs.
- Utility Design: Size and design storm drain, sanitary sewer, water systems and dry utilities.
- Advanced Stormwater Analysis: Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, going beyond basic methods.
- Permit Approvals: Interface with jurisdictional agencies to secure necessary permits.
- Technical Reporting: Author design memoranda and technical reports.
- Team Leadership: Lead, organize, and evaluate project staff, fostering learning and quality.
- Project Management: Collaborate with Clients and subconsultants and oversee projects through planning, design, and construction.
