Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Holden Farms.

The Holden family has been farming in Northfield, Minnesota, since our great-grandfather John Holden and his family moved here in 1876. From John Holden to our grandparents William and Mathilda Holden, to our parents Howard and Evelyn Holden, to our family today, one thing has remained constant: a dedication to hard work, honesty, and respect for the people, land and animals with which we work.

Today, we operate three turkey farms, own 70,000 sows and have nearly 200 contract partners throughout southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. And while we place tremendous value on our history and heritage, we’re also proud of of the innovative, forward-thinking company that we’ve become.

We’re guided by our own five commitments and – along with all our contract partners – proudly participate in the We Care responsible pork initiative. We constantly strive to take the best care of our animals while providing excellent career opportunities for our employees.

Here's What Working at Holden Farms Looks Like

Family owned and operated since 1876
Start of Holden Farms
Holden Farms’ history can be traced back to 1876 when John and Emma Holden moved their family to a small farm on Wall Street on the east side of Northfield, Minnesota.
1940 's Company is growing and so is the family
Evelyn and Howard had begun to concentrate their efforts on turkey farming. Over the course of the next several years the couple had four sons, each of whom would eventually become involved in the family’s farming activities. Following Howard’s death in 1973, the four sons – John, Kent, Barry and Craig – expanded the turkey operation to include hog production, feed milling and fertilizer production.
5th Generation Leadership
Under Kent and Barry’s leadership – and with the farm’s focus now exclusively on hog and turkey production – Holden Farms flourished during the 1990s and 2000s. Today, Holden Farms operates three turkey farms, is a part owner in a turkey processing plant, owns 40,000 sows and has nearly 200 contract partners in the region.
