Greater Richmond Dentistry, a well-established private dental practice, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Dental Hygienist to join our patient-centered team on a full-time basis (Monday through Thursday). Position Details
- Schedule: Full-Time (Monday–Thursday clinical schedule)
- Location: Chesterfield, VA
- Compensation: Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and qualifications
- Benefits: PTO may be offered in accordance with practice policy and employment status
Responsibilities:
Provide preventive and periodontal dental hygiene services consistent with accepted standards of care and the scope of practice established by the Virginia Board of Dentistry. Duties include:
- Provide comprehensive dental hygiene care for both new and existing patients, including preventive, periodontal, and maintenance visits
- Be comfortable seeing and managing new patient hygiene appointments
- Perform adult and pediatric prophylaxis
- Conduct periodontal charting and periodontal assessments
- Perform scaling and root planing (SRP) when clinically indicated
- Take diagnostic dental radiographs in compliance with Virginia radiology certification requirements
- Apply fluoride treatments and preventive agents
- Provide oral health education and hygiene instruction
- Identify and document oral health conditions, including periodontal disease and caries risk factors
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation
- Follow all infection control and sterilization protocols in accordance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, CDC infection control guidelines, and Virginia Board of Dentistry regulations
- Ensure HIPAA compliance in all patient communications and records management
- Maintain operatory readiness and collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and administrative team members to ensure coordinated patient care
- Deliver patient-centered care with professionalism, empathy, and strong communication skills
Qualifications
- Active Virginia Dental Hygienist License in good standing
- Radiology certification in accordance with Virginia Board of Dentistry requirements
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Knowledge of periodontal disease management and preventive dentistry
- Ability to maintain accurate clinical records and compliance documentation
- Strong communication skills and commitment to patient education
- Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset
- Ability to manage a productive hygiene schedule while maintaining high-quality clinical care
Experience in a private practice setting is required.
