Job Description


We are seeking a highly qualified Environmental Professional (EP) to join our network as an independent contractor. The primary focus of this role is the preparation and review of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) in strict accordance with ASTM E1527-21 standards.

We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can deliver high-quality, defensible reports for commercial real estate, healthcare facilities, and development sites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough Phase I ESA site reconnaissance and interviews.

  • Perform comprehensive historical research, including aerial photographs, topographic maps, Sanborn maps, and city directories.

  • Review federal, state, and local regulatory database records.

  • Evaluate Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs), Controlled RECs (CRECs), and Historical RECs (HRECs).

  • Author clear, concise, and technically sound Phase I ESA reports that meet the ASTM E1527-21 and EPA All Appropriate Inquiries (AAI) standards.

  • Identify and communicate potential environmental risks to the project management team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience specifically performing Phase I ESAs.

  • Certification: Must meet the definition of an Environmental Professional (EP) as defined in 40 CFR § 312.10. A Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license is a significant plus.

  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of the updated ASTM E1527-21 standard is mandatory.

  • Writing Skills: Strong technical writing skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.

  • Requirements

    • Must be an independent contractor with your own professional liability insurance (E&O).

    • Reliable transportation for site visits.

    • Ability to work independently and manage project timelines effectively.
