Job Description


Ambient is seeking an entry-level Environmental Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will learn to play a crucial part in delivering high-quality environmental consulting services that align with our commitment to safety and sustainability. Training will be provided under the guidance of qualified environmental professionals on Ambient’s Environment team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Ambient’s Environment Team with the following:
    • Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and preparing comprehensive Phase I ESA reports.
      • Tasks include conducting environmental database searches, historical record reviews, owner interviews, and site reconnaissance activities.
    • Conducting wetland delineations and preparing associated wetland maps, figures, and delineation reports to New York State Department of Environment Conservation (NYSDEC) and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) standards.
      • Tasks include desktop review of current site conditions
      • field work completing wetland delineations, collecting necessary test-pit data, and entering data into required forms.
    • Assist with the design of,  and conducting Phase II investigations
  • Learn and assist with marketing and business development activities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD/ArcGIS is a plus
  • Proficient in field identification of NYS wetland plant species and others is a plus
  • Team Player

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in a science or engineering discipline. Concentrations in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Biology, Geology, or related fields preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in GIS and ArcGIS software is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in technical writing
  • Knowledge in field skills including identification of NYS wetland plant species is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in data analysis and collection techniques
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (NYSDEC, USACE, EPA)
  • Familiarity with public health principles is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills
