We specialize in fuel tank installations and removals (AST/UST), above and belowground fuel systems, generator fueling systems, compliance inspections, diesel fuel polishing, and ongoing petroleum system maintenance for critical infrastructure.
Position Overview
Gulfstream Petroleum Services is seeking a detailoriented Project Estimator to support our petroleum construction and service operations. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for fuel system installations, removals, upgrades, and maintenance projects. The Project Estimator will work closely with sales, project management, and operations teams to ensure proper scoping, pricing, and risk assessment.
This position plays a key role in maintaining Gulfstream’s reputation for transparent pricing, regulatory compliance, and highquality execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for petroleum projects including:
- Aboveground and underground fuel tank installations and removals
- Generator fueling systems and day tanks
- Fuel piping, pumps, filtration systems, and remote fills
- Monthly compliance inspections, maintenance, and diesel fuel polishing
- Review drawings, specifications, site conditions, and scope documents to develop accurate estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, equipment, labor, and subcontracted work
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Identify potential project risks, constraints, and cost impacts during the estimating phase
- Assist in preparing proposals, bid packages, and pricing breakdowns
- Collaborate with project managers and operations staff to transfer estimate details into active projects
- Support change order pricing and job cost reviews as needed
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of estimating experience in petroleum contracting, construction, or infrastructure services
- Knowledge of aboveground and underground fuel systems, generators, and related equipment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Strong understanding of labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating or takeoff software; experience with project management platforms is a plus
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Estimating for government, healthcare, or critical infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements related to petroleum systems
- Prior field or project coordination experience within construction or fuel services
