Position Summary

The Senior Superintendent will lead all field operations for mechanical construction projects in the Jacksonville region. This role is responsible for driving execution, ensuring safety compliance, managing workforce productivity, and coordinating closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality HVAC systems on time and within budget.

This is a critical leadership role supporting Tropic’s expansion, requiring a seasoned professional capable of building teams, establishing field standards, and executing complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Execution

• Lead all on-site mechanical construction activities from mobilization through closeout

• Supervise foremen, pipefitters, welders, and subcontractors

• Ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and Tropic standards

Scheduling & Production

• Develop and manage project schedules and daily work plans

• Drive manpower planning and productivity across projects

• Identify risks and proactively resolve field issues

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols

• Conduct jobsite safety meetings and inspections

• Promote a safety-first culture across all operations

Quality Control

• Ensure installations meet design intent and code requirements

• Coordinate inspections and system commissioning

• Manage punch lists and project closeout

Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with Project Managers on budgets and timelines

• Interface with clients, GCs, and inspectors

• Provide consistent field reporting and updates

Leadership & Team Development

• Mentor and develop field personnel

• Support hiring and workforce planning in the Jacksonville market

• Establish strong field culture aligned with Team Tropic values

Qualifications

• 10+ years of HVAC/mechanical construction experience

• Proven experience as a Superintendent on commercial or healthcare projects preferred

• Strong knowledge of piping systems, hydronics, and HVAC installation

• Ability to read and interpret construction documents

• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience

• Strong knowledge of OSHA and jobsite safety requirements

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting new market expansion or startup operations

• Healthcare or mission-critical project experience

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
