Jr. Estimator – Residential Projects

FLSA status: Salaried, Non-Exempt

Supervisory responsibilities: None

Reports to: Sr. Estimator

Job Summary:

Lester Brothers Excavation, Inc. is looking for an entry-level Jr. Estimator to help price residential projects. Initial projects will center around driveway installations, considering existing ground, gravel type, driveway usage, and budget.

The role includes visiting job sites, meeting customers, preparing estimates, and helping generate new work. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit residential job sites to evaluate projects.
• Measure project areas and take notes on site conditions.
• Help prepare estimates for materials, trucking, equipment, and labor.
• Assist with calculating quantities of gravel, sand, and other aggregate materials.
• Communicate with homeowners regarding project details and timelines.
• Follow up with customers on estimates.
• Identify potential new work opportunities while visiting job sites.
• Maintain organized records of estimates and customer communication.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Willingness to learn estimating and job costing.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Good communication and ability to quickly generate rapport and trust with customers.
• Basic computer skills.

Education and Experience:

• At least one year of prior job experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and a good motor vehicle record are required.
• Previous exposure to and/or interest in construction, landscaping, or excavation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Walking job sites and properties.
• Measuring surfaces and evaluating site conditions.
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
