Job Summary
Job Description
We are seeking a safety-driven, experienced Demolition Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in the Detroit area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating a variety of heavy machinery—including excavators, loaders, backhoes, and skid steers—specifically within demolition environments such as building teardowns, foundations, and excavations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate a dozer, excavator, or other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Loading and unloading materials, equipment.
- Communicate with laborers, truck drivers, and other employees to help keep the site running safely and efficiently.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures and protocols.
- Operate various pieces of heavy equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
- Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular checks on their functionality.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and report any malfunctions to supervisors.
- Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
- Maintain a safety-first mindset and an attitude of excellence.
Job Qualifications - Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment (excavator, dozer, and skid steer) on construction sites.
- 3 years of experience working with regulated materials such as asbestos and silica and have previous training/licensing in these subjects
- Ability to perform the work with limited direction / supervision and have the knowledge of how to prepare, install, and maintain the work and equipment.
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment.
- Ability to work well with a team through strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Be willing and able to work with crew members and open to alternative ways of getting things done.
- Must contribute to and maintain a safe work environment by adhering to established protocols and regulations.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to drive to various project sites.
- Must be able to obtain an Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor credential.
