Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Experienced Technician Assistant - Emergency (Mid/Swing/Overnight)

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland Oregon. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology and are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff.

Who are we looking for right now?

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral is looking for experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians, for our ER department.  Our ER department offers 3/12 or 4/10 schedule for mid-shift, swing, and overnght coverage; Minimum 3 years of ER experience preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Triage and assessment of cases - including alerting DVM of patients in critical conditions
• Perform diagnostic testing and procedures
• Performance of General Anesthesia and patient Sedation and monitoring.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by DVM
• Provide support and education to pet owners
• Maintain accurate medical records

Required Skills

• Valid certification as a veterinary technician in the state of Oregon (CVT)
• Prior experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure 
• Confident in life saving procedures such as CPR, thoracocentesis, and urinary deobstruction
• Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills, advanced catheter and sampling line placement skills are a plus!
• Assisting and monitoring of surgical and sedated procedures, including management of unstable patients. 

Schedule details: 3/12’s (4/10 schedule may be considered) 

• Day (6:30a-7p) Sun-Tues, Th-Sat. 

• Mid (10:30a-11p) Sun-Tues, Th-Sat 

• Swing (2:30p-3a) Th-Sat 

• Overnight VTS ECC (6p-6a) Th-Sat

· CVT Starting Wage: $30+ per hour (based on experience) + $5 differential between 10p-6a

  Experienced TA Starting Wage: $22-$32
