Program Coordinator – Community Oral Health (Sacramento, CA)
Full-Time | Salaried | 40 hrs/week
Location Requirement: Must reside in the Sacramento, CA area
About the Role
The Program Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® (BSBF) program by delivering oral health education, coordinating community visits, and managing volunteer engagement.
This role is ideal for a community-focused professional who enjoys working with children and families, organizing programs, and building partnerships—no dental license required.
You will work closely with the Dental Professional, Local Coordinator, Community Awareness Representative (CAR), and program leadership to ensure high-quality program delivery across the Sacramento region.
Important Note: This is a corporate-sponsored philanthropic program through Colgate-Palmolive, not a government or public service position.
This role includes a mix of fieldwork, community engagement, and remote administrative responsibilities and requires a flexible schedule.
What You’ll Do
Community Education & Engagement
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate oral health education presentations to children and families (virtual and in-person)
- Support dental screenings by assisting with non-clinical tasks (setup, flow management, participant coordination)
- Prepare and organize educational materials and oral care kits
- Reinforce key oral health messages in a fun, accessible way
Community Partnerships & Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and local partners
- Schedule and coordinate program visits and events
- Support outreach efforts to expand program participation across the region
- Assist with maintaining referral resource lists for families (provided by dental team)
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, and support non-dental and general volunteers
- Coordinate schedules and communications using tools like SignUpGenius
- Ensure volunteers are prepared and understand their roles during events
- Provide on-site support and coordination during program activities
Program Operations & Logistics
- Coordinate daily program logistics, including scheduling, supplies, and event preparation
- Assist with setup and breakdown of events (in-person and virtual)
- Manage inventory of educational materials and supplies
- Ensure smooth execution of all program activities
Administration & Reporting
- Track participation data and assist with program reporting
- Maintain organized records, schedules, and databases, including:
- Visit request tracking systems
- Volunteer coordination tools
- Program activity logs
- Participate in weekly meetings, planning sessions, and team check-ins
What We’re Looking For
- Strong communication and presentation skills, especially with youth and families
- Experience in community outreach, education, events, or program coordination
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable using technology (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, scheduling tools)
- Self-starter with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for community impact, education, and public health
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in education, communications, public health, nonprofit work, or event coordination
- Experience working with schools, youth programs, or community organizations
- Bilingual (Spanish or other languages common in the Sacramento region) is a plus

Work Environment & Requirements
- Must reside in the Sacramento, CA area
- Must have a reliable home workspace for remote responsibilities
- Reliable transportation required for local travel and events
- Ability to travel as needed
Compensation & Support
- Company-issued laptop and tech support
- Mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate
- Travel arrangements coordinated through UEM (airfare, hotel, car rental as approved)
- Reimbursement for approved travel expenses
- Daily meal allowance ($55/day for approved travel)
