About Your Role
CMTS is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Baggage Handling System Inspector - Construction to support airport infrastructure projects in Tampa, FL. This role is responsible for overseeing field activities related to baggage handling system installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and coordinating with contractors and project stakeholders to support safe and efficient project delivery.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
What You'll Need to Get the Job Done
• Prior experience on baggage handling system (BHS) projects
• Experience with conveyance systems such as cross belt sorters
• Strong mechanical and electrical technical background across multiple disciplines
• Ability to work on-site at Tampa Airport Program Management Office
• Willingness to work evening shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed
• Experience coordinating with contractors, project managers, and field stakeholders
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and industry standards
• Ability to monitor construction activities for progress, quality, and compliance
What Will Make You Stand Out
• Experience working in an active airport environment
• Knowledge of airport operations and notification processes (SIRs, MCNs, NOTAMs)
• Experience using construction/project management software (Prolog, Procore, CRM systems)
• Experience participating in OAC, QA/QC, and safety meetings
• Experience monitoring construction safety and reporting unsafe conditions
What You'll Do
• Monitor subcontractor field activities and report on construction progress
• Identify and verify remediation needs for non-conforming work
• Maintain daily reports, site photos, and project status updates
• Review contract documents and project systems for compliance
• Observe construction activities to ensure alignment with plans, specifications, and standards
• Maintain records of contractor performance and production
• Assist with verification of quantities and materials for progress payments
• Monitor site safety and report unsafe conditions to contractor and HCAA staff
• Review look-ahead schedules and coordinate upcoming work
• Notify project leadership of out-of-sequence work or quality concerns
• Support coordination with adjacent work areas and project interfaces
• Assist with airport operational requirements including SIRs, MCNs, and NOTAMs
• Maintain photo documentation and distribute progress updates
• Participate in OAC meetings, QA/QC meetings, safety meetings, and inspections
• Maintain clear communication with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders
