Prep Chef

Kikka sushi, located in the Whole Foods Market located at 1933 State Road 35, Wall, NJ 07719. is looking for a dependable Food Prep / Cook / team member that will make sushi in advance and per customer's request.  No experience making sushi, no problem we will teach you! 

The Food Prep / Cook / team member  will also make salad rolls, poke bowls, and spring rolls, clean, prep foods for that day and the next day, all while greeting, talking to and thanking all customers who come into the area. Once a week you will need to put away the shipment when it comes in.

This Full Time only, 5 days a week, (must work all Friday – Sunday, and holidays), working 7am – 4pm (includes a hour unpaid meal break).

To thrive you must show up to work on time and as scheduled, be willing to learn and work hard (this isn’t an easy job), be patient (it takes about 3 months to make sushi quickly and look nice too), must be willing to stick it out (not quit after a few weeks or a couple of months) and be able to work with multi-cultural and multi-lingual co-workers, some who barely speak English.

Pay: $17.00 per hour. Per New Jersey pay transparency law: up to $19.00, depending on years sushi making work experience. No experience making sushi; pay is $17.00, not negotiable.

Qualified candidates must be able to…

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Know what with sushi is (hint: it’s not raw fish)
• Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Work all Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Preferred experience...

• Working in quick service restaurants, supermarkets or fast paced environments
• Food handling experience and food handler certification
