Introduction
Our client is a small animal hospital hiring for a Medical Director. The practice is dedicated exclusively to small animal medicine and is seeking a veterinarian to lead clinical standards while supporting a collaborative veterinary team.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am to 3:00pm, with the hospital closed on Sundays. The position is available on a full-time basis.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As the Medical Lead Veterinarian, the Medical Director will champion medical excellence within the hospital. The role involves mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, partnering with the Practice Manager to build a healthy and engaged team, and driving continuous improvement in patient care and client service. The Medical Director will manage associate veterinarians through regular performance discussions, coaching on individual development goals including production and PCT, and fostering a culture focused on teamwork and retention. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the role requires setting the example for the highest quality of medicine, client service, and efficiency while also practicing as an associate veterinarian and achieving individual production goals. The Medical Director will work alongside the Practice Manager to help develop the annual operating plan, guide hospital financial performance toward an EBITDA goal, and ensure compliance with medical and DEA regulations. The role also includes leading monthly doctor meetings to review best practices, discuss new services and medical standards, supervising externship and mentorship programs, and supporting recruitment initiatives. The Medical Director will also represent the hospital through community engagement with schools, universities, and local events.
Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with Idexx in-house labs and ultrasound imaging to support accurate diagnostics and patient care. The practice is AAHA Accredited and holds an excellent 4.7-star Google rating. Services offered include acupuncture, dentistry, surgery, wellness, and preventative care. The hospital maintains a strong focus on contemporary small animal medicine and provides access to advanced tools and resources that support improved patient outcomes. Veterinarians benefit from internal specialty consultations across the wider network, helping support the management of complex cases and ensuring comprehensive care. Team
The hospital team includes 3 DVMs working collaboratively to provide high-quality veterinary care.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
