Introduction
Our client is a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital seeking a full-time Specialty Medical Director to join their advanced referral center in Fishers, Indiana. This leadership opportunity is open to board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Specialists, including Criticalists, Internists, Surgeons, and other specialties. The hospital provides specialty, emergency, and general practice services for companion animals and serves a wide regional area with advanced, multidisciplinary care.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position within a fast-paced, 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital. The facility operates around the clock, supporting emergency and critical care services alongside specialty departments. Scheduling is flexible.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Specialty Medical Director will establish the direction and medical quality of the hospital while continuing to practice within their specialty. This role includes overseeing clinical standards, establishing protocols, helping build and oversee an ICU unit, managing multiple teams, and driving hospital growth. The position offers the opportunity to transition into a leadership-focused career path while maintaining active clinical involvement. Candidates must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state, and be residency trained or board certified. A strong commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics is essential.

Practice Details
This 30,000 square foot advanced specialty and emergency facility is equipped with a 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64-slice CT scanner, linear accelerator, fluoroscopy, two digital radiology rooms, two ultrasound units, full endoscopy equipment, a phacoemulsification unit, YAG laser, EMG, and comprehensive physical rehabilitation services including two underwater treadmills. The hospital includes 16 exam rooms and dedicated treatment areas for each specialty department. Specialty services include Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Physical Rehabilitation, Emergency and Critical Care, Radiology, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. The hospital benefits from integration within a large national network, providing access to additional specialists and collaborative resources.

Team
The hospital team includes 14 DVMs, with 11 full-time emergency doctors and hospitalists, supported by specialists in Internal Medicine, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Nutrition, and Physical Rehabilitation. The culture is highly collaborative and team-focused, emphasizing interdisciplinary communication and excellence in patient care.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
