Job Description

Sage Dental Management is a leading, rapidly growing Dental Service Organization (DSO) committed to innovation, excellence, and patient-centered care.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Manager of Construction to support the development of new healthcare facilities and renovations across a growing multi-state portfolio. This role is responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects in a high-volume rollout environment. The Manager of Construction will oversee projects from lease execution through turnover to operations, ensuring schedule adherence, budget control, and consistent delivery of company standards. The ideal candidate has experience in multi-site healthcare, retail, or prototype-driven construction and understands the pace, coordination, and discipline required for repeatable builds.

Responsibilities

Project Execution

  • Manage multiple ground-up and interior build-out projects simultaneously from pre-construction through closeout
  • Coordinate landlords, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to maintain project schedules
  • Track milestones including permitting, landlord delivery, construction progress, inspections, equipment installation, and turnover
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with company standards
  • Review drawings, proposals, and change orders for accuracy and scope compliance
  • Conduct site walks and punchlist reviews prior to turnover

Pre-Construction & Planning

  • Participate in site feasibility, budgeting, and constructability review
  • Coordinate utility requirements, equipment layouts, and infrastructure readiness
  • Identify risks early and escalate solutions before impacting schedule or cost
  • Support permitting and jurisdictional approvals

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage general contractors and vendors to maintain accountability to contract terms
  • Enforce schedule expectations and project communication standards
  • Review pay applications and validate progress against work completed
  • Maintain strong relationships while protecting company interests

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with building codes, healthcare requirements, and company standards
  • Verify life safety, ADA, and jurisdictional inspection completion prior to turnover
  • Support risk mitigation and documentation controls across all projects

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Operations, IT, Clinical, Equipment, and Marketing teams to align project readiness
  • Coordinate delivery of signage, millwork, equipment, and technology installations
  • Communicate project status clearly to leadership and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years experience managing multi-site commercial construction projects
  • Healthcare, dental, medical office, retail rollout, or franchise development experience strongly preferred
  • Experience managing 5+ concurrent projects
  • Strong understanding of permitting, landlord work letters, and tenant improvement construction
  • Ability to read construction drawings and review contractor proposals
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office

Preferred Experience

  • Healthcare or dental construction
  • Multi-state permitting environments
  • Prototype or programmatic buildouts
  • Working within a corporate development team (not solely for a GC)

Key Success Traits

  • Highly organized and schedule-driven
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Comfortable operating within standardized processes
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Able to manage urgency across multiple deadlines
