About the Opportunity
Established and growing commercial painting contractor seeking a highly detail-oriented Estimator to support continued expansion. This position is suited for a professional who excels at interpreting plans, building precise proposals, and managing multiple bid opportunities with consistency and accountability.
Role Overview
The Estimator is responsible for producing clear, accurate, and competitive project estimates with well-defined scopes of work. Success in this role depends on the ability to create thorough inclusions and exclusions, minimize ambiguity, and deliver estimates that allow for seamless project execution after award.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for commercial painting projects
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and production rates
- Review plans, specifications, and addenda in detail
- Develop well-defined scopes including detailed inclusions and exclusions
- Maintain organized bid documentation and revision tracking
- Support existing client relationships and pursue new bid opportunities
- Coordinate or attend job walks/site visits as needed
- Meet internal bid schedules and external deadlines
- Collaborate with project management to ensure smooth handoff from estimating to operations
- Perform additional related duties as required
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years commercial painting or construction estimating experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with takeoff/estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar)
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Compensation & Performance Incentives
- Base salary range: $60,000 – $80,000 depending on experience
- Performance-based bonus structure tied to estimating targets such as bid volume, awarded revenue, accuracy metrics, and timely submission benchmarks
