We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting in various procedures while ensuring a comfortable experience for our patients. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and take vital signs to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize EMR systems such as Dentrix for efficient patient management.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide guidance on preventive care.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in general and pediatric dentistry settings.
  • Stay current with medical imaging techniques and assist with necessary imaging procedures.
  • Uphold infection control protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Valid Dental Hygienist license in the State of California.
  • Degree: Associate degree or bachelors Degree depending on the program.
  • Education: Successful completion of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA).
  • We prefer candidates with 1+ years of paid work experience in a dental office or clinic setting.
  • Proficient knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
  • Examine patient's oral cavity and record conditions of teeth and surrounding tissues. Refer patients to dentist who have abnormalities to include cavities, defective fillings, suspicious growths, or periodontal disease.
  • Instruct patients in proper oral hygiene care using materials to include teeth models, displays, slides, toothbrushes, dental floss, disclosing tablets and mirrors. Demonstrate proper techniques of brushing, flossing, and use of necessary periodontal aids. Explain the common causes of tooth decay and its relationship to general diet.
  • Apply pit and fissure sealants.
  • Record patients treated. Check and maintain instruments to insure working condition. Clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments.
  • Understanding of infection control measures and aseptic techniques is essential.
