The Dental Treatment Coordinator plays a critical role in a large family dental practice by guiding patients through their recommended treatment plans. This position bridges the clinical and administrative teams, ensuring patients understand their dental needs, feel confident moving forward with care, and have a smooth financial and scheduling experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Communication & Education
- Review and explain treatment plans clearly and compassionately to patients
- Answer questions regarding procedures, timelines, and expected outcomes
- Build trust and rapport with patients
Case Acceptance
- Present treatment plans in a way that encourages understanding and acceptance
- Address patient concerns, objections, and financial questions professionally
- Track and follow up on unscheduled or pending treatment plans
Financial Coordination
- Verify insurance benefits and explain coverage, estimates, and limitations
- Present financial options, including payment plans and third-party financing
- Collect payments and ensure financial agreements are completed accurately
Scheduling & Coordination
- Coordinate treatment scheduling with providers
- Ensure appointments align with treatment sequencing and provider availability
Required
- Previous experience in a dental office (clinical or administrative)
- Strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology
- Knowledge of dental insurance and billing processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort discussing finances with patients
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Preferred
- Experience as a Treatment Coordinator in a multi-provider or high-volume practice
- Familiarity with practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.)
- Fast-paced, high-volume family dental practice
- Collaborative team-oriented setting
- Regular interaction with patients of all ages
