About the Role
A well-established and growing foodservice distribution company is seeking a Night Shipping Manager to support overnight warehouse shipping operations at its multi-temperature distribution facility in Landover, Maryland.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, high-energy leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to take the next step in warehouse management. Reporting directly to the Night Operations Manager, you will lead hourly shipping teams and ensure accurate, on-time outbound fulfillment across ambient, refrigerated, and frozen product zones.
The Night Shipping Manager will play a key role in maintaining service performance, driving team accountability, and ensuring that nightly shipping goals are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate nightly outbound shipping operations to ensure accurate and on-time order fulfillment
Lead, coach, and motivate a team of hourly associates to meet productivity and performance goals
Manage daily execution across shipping, staging, loading, and order accuracy processes
Monitor key operational metrics, including labor efficiency, throughput, safety performance, and shipping accuracy
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards (HACCP, FSMA)
Partner with Transportation, Inventory Control, Maintenance, HR, and Safety teams to resolve operational issues and support business objectives
Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement process improvements to strengthen productivity and consistency
Support staffing, onboarding, training, and performance management for shipping associates
Maintain strong floor presence and lead by example during high-volume operational periods
Qualifications
Required
2+ years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, logistics, or shipping leadership role
Experience managing employee performance, productivity, and attendance
Ability to lead teams in a high-volume environment with strict deadlines
Comfort working with performance metrics and operational KPIs
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Willingness to work nights and partial weekends
Ability to work in a multi-temperature distribution facility (ambient, refrigerated, frozen)
Preferred
Bachelors degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or related field
Experience in foodservice distribution, grocery distribution, or cold storage environments
Familiarity with WMS systems, shipping documentation, and warehouse workflow processes
Exposure to Lean, continuous improvement, or process improvement methodologies
Experience supporting operational growth, process changes, or shift expansions
