About NVC South Post Oak

NVC South Post Oak is a two-doctor, small animal general practice in Southwest Houston, led by Dr. Patrick Choyce, proudly serving our neighborhood with high-quality medicine and a relationship-first approach.

Neighborhood Veterinary Centers (NVC) is 100% family-owned and operated—with no investors, no board members, and no corporate red tape. We are built on strong relationships, accessibility, and integrity, and we take pride in being the kind of practice that shows up for our clients, our pets, and our community.

Who We’re Looking For (And What You’ll Do)

We believe great practices are built through strong leadership, trust, and presence. Practice Managers at NVC are key culture-shapers who support teams and help ensure exceptional care for patients and clients.  This position is a Full-Time Opportunity.

We’re hiring a hands-on servant leader Practice Manager who can lead the day-to-day operations of the hospital while building a strong, healthy, accountable culture.

You’re a present, people-first, operationally strong veterinary leader who:

  • Leads with servant leadership and standards—you truly care about team growth and mentorship

  • Protects the client experience and goes above and beyond for pets and the people who love them

  • Partners confidently with doctors and leadership to keep the hospital running smoothly

  • Brings structure, accountability, and calm to a fast-paced environment

  • Drives performance using key business metrics and KPIs while keeping people at the center

Must-Have Experience & Skills

  • Veterinary Technician experience is required (you understand patient flow, standards of care, and real-time support on the floor)

  • 3+ years of veterinary leadership or management experience

  • Strong understanding of veterinary clinic operations and fast-paced workflow

  • Ability to lead with clear expectations, accountability, and consistency

  • Proven hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance development experience

  • Conflict resolution skills are a must: you address issues early, professionally, and directly, with emotional intelligence and maturity

  • Strong partnership mindset with doctors and leadership; able to communicate effectively across personality styles and temperaments

  • Strong standards around client experience, communication, and professionalism

What You’ll Own (Key Responsibilities)

  • Lead and support the hospital team with clear expectations, accountability, and consistency

  • Oversee daily operations, scheduling, staffing, and workflow

  • Partner closely with doctors to support high-quality medicine and patient care

  • Manage hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance development

  • Maintain strong standards for client experience, communication, and professionalism

  • Collaborate with NVC leadership to support hospital goals, team development, and long-term success

Operational & Technical Readiness (Required for Success)

  • Confidence in the business side of the hospital: understands and drives performance through key KPIs (labor, revenue, scheduling efficiency, compliance, client experience metrics, etc.)

  • Technology confidence: experience with Covetrus Pulse is a plus, but must be able to learn quickly and own the technical duties expected of a Practice Manager

  • Shared vision and alignment with NVC and NVC South Post Oak: relationship-driven, neighborhood-focused, accessible, and high-integrity

  • Strong commitment to medical and service excellence; supports Lead DVM goals and hospital standards

Standards & Culture Alignment

  • Champions excellence in patient care and client experience and willingly raises the bar

  • Supports and advances Fear Free and AAHA-level standards and sees high standards as a welcome challenge—not a burden

  • Servant leader who truly cares about team members, growth, mentorship, and retention

  • Compassionate and solutions-driven for clients and their pets—goes above and beyond

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred

  • LVT preferred

  • Familiarity with DISC and/or StrengthsFinder (or a strong understanding of how personality styles impact communication and teamwork)

Why NVC?

At NVC, Practice Managers are trusted leaders with the autonomy to lead their hospital day to day—supported by accessible leadership and a collaborative operations team. We are family-owned, relationship-driven, and intentional about supporting our leaders so they can focus on their people, their patients, and their community—without corporate layers or red tape.

If you want to build something meaningful with a team that values presence, standards, and real leadership support, we’d love to talk.
