About the Opportunity:
Saratech is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer who will be reseponsible for researching, analyzing, designing, and testing electro-mechanical components, subsystems, and processes to support both new product development and sustaining engineering for existing products. This role develops and recommends solutions for complex or specialized engineering projects, ensuring design objectives are met within defined technical, cost, and schedule constraints. The engineer applies established engineering principles within their discipline (e.g., electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical) to deliver reliable, compliant, and high-value engineering solutions. This is a full-time position or part-time leading to full-time position located at our corporate headquarters in Mission Viejo, CA and/or TBD during interview.
Salary Range:
- $95,000 - $145,000 annually
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Typically requires 4-6 years of relevant professional engineering experience.
Thorough knowledge of the assigned product domain, with growing breadth of understanding of industry practices, techniques, regulations, and policies.
Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools, such as CAD or modeling systems, and standard engineering software packages.
Ability to apply standard engineering practices in complex situations, correlate and interpret data, recognize discrepancies, and follow multi-step technical processes.
Ability to work with general project objectives and team goals, exercising sound judgment in selecting appropriate procedures and techniques.
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional team environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical status, recommendations, and analyses to engineering partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop conceptual and detailed product specifications by analyzing performance requirements and customer needs, including considerations for function, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost (recurring and non-recurring), operational efficiency, and contractual requirements.
Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts to support the design and development of electro-mechanical components and systems.
Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to integrate motors, actuators, sensors, and other electrical devices into electro-mechanical assemblies.
Select appropriate components and materials that meet stringent performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements, ensuring designs comply with applicable industry standards.
Develop and test prototypes, perform simulations, analyze test data, and troubleshoot electrical issues to ensure robust performance and reliability.
Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, quality, and regulatory stakeholders.
Apply scientific analysis and mathematical models to evaluate design alternatives; interpret and validate test results for accuracy and precision.
Recommend product qualification procedures and parameters to meet safety, reliability, and performance requirements, including failure analysis activities.
Prepare technical documentation using established engineering practices and standards, including procedures, test reports, and design review materials.
Contribute to project milestones by developing functional diagrams, system layouts, reviewing detailed drawings and schematics, defining interfaces and data structures, and analyzing material and system requirements.
Support project execution within defined cost and schedule constraints by providing status updates and participating in root-cause and corrective-action activities related to variances.
Review product specifications to ensure clarity, completeness, form, fit, function, and compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
Identify design errors, omissions, or deficiencies and recommend engineering changes, revisions, or improvements to engineering leadership or project teams.
Maintain and expand technical expertise through professional development activities, technical literature review, and participation in professional organizations.
Share specialized knowledge with peers and mentor less-experienced engineers; represent the organization on assigned technical initiatives or projects as needed.
