Cornerstone Mechanical Services is a trusted industrial mechanical and reliability services provider supporting manufacturing, process, and heavy industrial facilities across North Texas. We specialize in rotating equipment, precision maintenance, and reliability-driven solutions. Our reputation is built on technical excellence, safety, and doing the job right the first time.

We are seeking a Lead Industrial Millwright who takes pride in craftsmanship, leads by example, and understands the long-term impact of precision maintenance on equipment reliability.

Position Summary

The Lead Industrial Millwright serves as a technical authority and working leader in the field. This role is largely self-directed, operating from a planned schedule while maintaining direct communication with customers and internal leadership. You will lead complex mechanical work, mentor apprentices and peers, and represent Cornerstone on customer sites daily.

This is not a production-only role. Success in this position requires technical judgment, reliability thinking, safety leadership, and strong customer communication.

Key Responsibilities

Precision Maintenance & Technical Execution

  • Perform installation, repair, overhaul, and alignment of industrial rotating equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and best practices.
  • Execute precision maintenance activities including bearing replacement, mechanical seals, shaft alignment, balancing, and component inspections.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment systems, etc.).
  • Support both field and shop work, including the use of lathes, mills, and balance machines as required.

Reliability & Diagnostics

  • Identify early indicators of mechanical failure through observation, inspection, testing, and monitoring.
  • Communicate findings clearly and accurately to support repair recommendations and reliability improvements.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
  • Collaborate with customer maintenance teams, reliability engineers, and operators to improve asset performance.

Safety & Quality Leadership

  • Conduct job safety analyses and pre-job safety reviews with customers and internal teams.
  • Lead work in accordance with OSHA, site-specific, and Cornerstone safety standards.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in the field and shop.
  • Set the standard for quality, safety, and professionalism on every job site.

Leadership & Customer Interface

  • Lead and mentor apprentices and fellow millwrights during job execution.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers during assigned work.
  • Clearly communicate work scope, progress, and findings throughout the day.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and integrity as a daily representative of Cornerstone Mechanical.

Documentation & Systems

  • Accurately complete inspection reports, overhaul documentation, and job records.
  • Enter historical data into CMMS systems, including labor hours, task completion, and technical feedback.
  • Ensure work orders are properly planned, executed, and closed with quality documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • NCCER certification, Union Journeyman status, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on industrial millwright experience, preferably in rotating equipment environments.
  • Proven experience with industrial mechanical maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Strong working knowledge of bearings, seals, alignment, balancing, and mechanical power transmission.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical manuals, and drawings.
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools and mechanical calculations.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally within the DFW service area.

Preferred / Differentiating Skills

  • Experience working within CMMS systems.
  • Ability to self-plan work, order materials, and execute jobs efficiently.
  • Experience with rigging and setting equipment for removal and installation.
  • Proficiency with oxy-acetylene cutting and heating.
  • Strong understanding of reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience in the field.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in manufacturing facilities, process plants, and machine shop environments.
  • Exposure to rotating machinery, elevated noise levels, and energized equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, rotating shifts, and emergency callouts when required.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs, and wearing required PPE.
  • Company vehicle provided for travel between job sites.

Why Join Cornerstone Mechanical

  • Company-provided vehicle
  • Exposure to diverse industries and complex equipment
  • Strong safety culture and planned work execution
  • Opportunity to lead, mentor, and influence reliability outcomes
