Introduction
Our client is a well-respected referral and emergency hospital based in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, currently hiring a full-time Emergency Veterinarian. Known for its high standards and 24/7 availability, this AAHA-accredited hospital provides both specialty referral services and round-the-clock emergency care for cats and dogs throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Multiple flexible scheduling options are available to suit different lifestyles, including 2-3 shifts per week, 5 on/10 off, and 10 shifts in a row. This is a full-time position, and candidates will have the opportunity to discuss their preferred schedule during the hiring process.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This position is open to experienced emergency veterinarians seeking a dynamic and supportive environment. The role involves providing high-quality emergency care to cats and dogs in an advanced hospital setting. Candidates should be confident in handling a fast-paced caseload, making critical decisions, and working closely with a specialty team.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including a fully stocked in-house lab with Idexx catalyst machines, Procyte CBC, coagulation testing, urinalysis, and a Snap test reader. Imaging capabilities include digital radiography, a Philips HDX11 ultrasound machine, digital endoscopy, laparoscopic tools, and a CT scanner with fluoroscopy for detailed 3D imaging. As an AAHA-accredited facility, the hospital upholds rigorous clinical standards and fosters a collaborative, referral-based environment focused on exceptional patient care.

The hospital currently employs 8 DVMs and is supported by a strong team of skilled support staff. The team culture emphasizes collaboration, high standards of care, and flexibility to support long-term career satisfaction and development.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
