Refrigeration Technician

Responsibilities:

• Maintain, diagnose, and repair industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and/or Freon systems
• Perform preventive maintenance on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, and valves
• Monitor system operation and respond promptly to alarms and emergency conditions
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IIAR, and applicable food safety regulations
• Safely manage refrigerants while maintaining accurate logs and documentation
• Assist with system startups, shutdowns, and equipment upgrades
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to reduce downtime
• Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response activities

Required Experience:

• 5+ years of industrial refrigeration experience (food or cold storage preferred)
• Hands-on experience with ammonia (NH3) systems strongly preferred
• Knowledge of screw and reciprocating compressors
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical documentation
• EPA Universal Certification required
• CIRO, RETA, or similar certifications a plus
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotation
• Ability to work in cold, hot, and wet environments
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights
• Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
