POSITION TITLE: Lead Designer, OSP

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ADB is seeking a Lead Designer, OSP that is expertly certified to provide utility fiber route designs within the OSP Engineering team. This position will not only require an expert level of technical design experience, but also, be an informal leader to Level 1-2 designers within the team. The ideal candidate will be safety focused, customer and quality centric, with a strong work ethic and ALL IN attitude.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uses GIS/3GIS to perform expert level fiber/coax design aerial, underground, and FTTx route maps and executes tasks such as route analysis
- Designate the design, sizing, and placement of mainlines, laterals, hubs, splices, splitter cabinets, and terminals
- Expert level of fiber allocation design for splicing matrix
- Ability to perform field surveys of outside plant aerial and underground network facilities; develop running line, splice sheets, loss budgets and other design elements.
- Coordinate with internal Engineering teams and External Customers to determine component selection, routing, and network architecture guidelines in order to produce detailed designs
- Perform quality control reviews for self-completed designs in terms of completeness, accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Performs field walk outs for construction move projects, customer maintenance programs, customer service connection projects, etc.
- Participates in meetings with government entities to plan utility construction projects
- Provide training and support to Level I and Level II Designers on various position duties
- Supports management during bid estimation processes for design projects
- Ability to collect and operate Geospatial tools to capture all field data needed (LiDAR)
- Ability to create staking sheets and generation of shapefiles per project requirements
- Collaborate with the construction project managers and / or field personnel to ensure quality and timely delivery of design and engineering service
- Performs other duties as requested by leadership

- Mid-level knowledge of construction drawings and documents
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position operates within a temperature-controlled office environment
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, projectors, copy/fax, and smartphones
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- 3-5+ Years OSP Design experience in telecommunications required
- BICSI certified or CFOS/D certification required
- Bachelors Degree in engineering required if no formal experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required 3-5+ Years OSP Design experience in telecommunications required
