We are currently seeking a highly motivated Airfield Construction Quality Assurance Inspector located in Tampa, FL .
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
Preferred Certifications/Licenses:
- Certifications from CTQP (Concrete Field Inspector, Asphalt Field Inspector, Earthwork Construction Inspector) or equivalent.
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities:
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant quality assurance and construction inspection experience, specifically on large civil infrastructure projects (horizontal airfield, pavement, taxiways, aprons, drainage, and related utilities).
- Proven experience interpreting and enforcing contract documents, construction plans, specifications, and airport standards (FAA/State/Local).
- Strong working knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, construction testing protocols, materials compliance, and inspection
practices. - Experience inspecting airfield pavements (asphalt, concrete), earthworks, drainage systems, and associated airfield facilities.
- Ability to perform detailed daily field inspections, document findings, and provide formal reports.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and reliable mobility to inspect field operations.
- Ability to work on active airfield environments in coordination with airport operations, including safety/staging constraints and NOTAM requirements.
- Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with contractors, clients, and project stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA/Airport construction inspection training or relevant aviation infrastructure QA/QC qualifications.
- Experience with airport taxiway/airfield pavement programs or FAA Part 139 compliance.
- Advanced skills in interpreting survey data, earthwork tolerances, and materials test results
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily field inspections of construction activities to verify compliance with design drawings, specifications, material testing protocols, and QA/QC
procedures. - Monitor contractor QA/QC activities and provide independent verification of quality controls.
- Maintain detailed records of inspection observations, test results, nonconformances, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit daily inspection reports, nonconformance reports (NCRs), test logs, and punch lists.
- Coordinate inspection activities with construction personnel, project management, airport operations, and thirdparty testing agencies.
- Participate in material sampling, field and laboratory testing coordination, calibration of inspection equipment, and review of test results.
- Track quality progress against project milestones and communicate issues requiring resolution or escalation.
- Participate in quality meetings, safety briefings, and coordination for airfield closures/NOTAM coordination with airport operations.
- Support commissioning, final acceptance inspections, and turnover documentation for completed infrastructure.
Preferred skills and abilities:
- Technical Competence: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, and the ability to interpret plans and engineering
documentation. - Communication: Clear written and verbal communication, capable of producing concise reports and facilitating field coordination.
- Problem Solving: Ability to identify quality issues, assess root causes, and recommend mitigation or corrective measures.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in inspection duties, documentation, and test result interpretation.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management and QA reporting tools, MS Office Suite, and construction controls software similar to ProCore
and Kahua. - Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders including contractors, CM/PM staff, airport representatives, and testing
Salary:
- $130,000
Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
