Experienced Pipelayer (Water, Sewer, Storm Utility Construction)

Full-time | $30.00 – $35.00 per hour

W.C. Spratt, Inc. is seeking an experienced Pipe Crew Laborer to join our team. Note: This is not an entry-level position. Only candidates who meet the required qualifications below will be considered. Candidates must have experience with water, sewer, and storm pipe installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lay various types of pipe for water lines, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and drains.
• Align and position pipes to prepare for welding, sealing, or joining.
• Check slopes for conformance to specifications and engineered plans.
• Cut, thread, hammer, and weld pipe using saws, pipe threaders, benders, or other tools.
• Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Plan pipe installation or repair according to project specifications.
• Set up pipe lasers and grade ditches accurately.
• Maintain safe and organized job sites following W.C. Spratt’s quality and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Track Hoe operator.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in cutting, threading, and welding pipes.
• Minimum 1 year of experience reading blueprints or engineered plans.
• Experience installing water, sewer, and storm pipes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on active construction sites.
• Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating wheel loaders, skid steers, or excavators.
• Familiarity with GPS-grade control or site layout tools.
• Knowledge of civil sitework and underground utility construction practices.
