Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Part-Time Kitchen Assistant to support our daily lunch and snack service. The primary role is to portion and organize food for classrooms—not to prepare food. However, this position will assist with basic food preparation when our main chef is on vacation or absent. A valid Illinois Food Manager License is required.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
• Part-time position

Key Responsibilities

• Portion and organize food items onto carts for each classroom
• Clearly label and separate items for allergies or special diets
• Deliver food carts to designated classrooms as needed
• Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen compliant with state and licensing requirements
• Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food deliveries
• Label, date, and rotate food items properly
• Assist with basic food preparation during chef vacation days or absences
• Support the mission and values of St. Francis Day Care Center through teamwork, respect, and service

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Food Manager License (Required or Willing to Obtain)
• Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred
• Ability to stand, lift, bend, and carry 30–40 lbs
• Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail
• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
• Positive attitude and comfort working in a faith-based environment
