Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt $30-$32/ Hr.

Job SummaryThe Heavy Equipment Operator / CDL Driver is responsible for operating heavy equipment and safely transporting construction materials, machinery, and equipment to and from job sites. This role supports project operations by performing equipment operations, deliveries, and assisting with field tasks as needed to ensure efficient and safe workflow across civil construction projects.
Primary Responsibilities- Safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, scrapers, and front-end loaders.
- Drive commercial vehicles (Class A CDL required) to transport equipment and materials between job sites.
- Load, secure, and unload heavy equipment and materials for transport.
- Perform and document pre- and post-trip inspections; maintain accurate driver logs and vehicle inspections.
- Perform daily equipment inspections in Fleetio and report any maintenance or safety issues.
- Conduct trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation while following plans and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain proper barricading and safe slopes during excavation.
- Identify and locate underground utilities before digging or trenching.
- Work productively with the site foreman and other team members to complete assigned tasks.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Represent Timberline in a professional manner with clients, vendors, and co-workers.
- Class A CDL License required.
- 2-5 years of experience in heavy equipment operation and/or CDL driving.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of DOT rules, regulations, and equipment operation safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.
- Capable of performing physical labor, including lifting up to 25 lbs. and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and meet DOT medical requirements.
- Willing and able to travel as needed.
High-paced construction environment requiring accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain. Some long-distance driving and overnight travel may be required.
