About the Role:We’re expanding to better serve our community, and we’re launching Urgent Care services ! This position is perfect for a veterinarian who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about providing exceptional care when it’s needed most.
Urgent Care Schedule: Rotating Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am – 9:00pm (No overnights, no holidays, no on-call shifts!)
About West Jefferson Animal Hospital:We’re a full-service small animal hospital offering preventative medicine, surgery, laser therapy, dentistry, and now urgent care. We use power scheduling and scribe note support so you can spend less time charting and more time doing what you love: caring for animals.

1+ years of DVM experience
Urgent Care or Emergency experience preferred
Interest in urgent care is a must!

- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH.
- Diagnose, perform surgery, and treat patients.
- Maintain excellent client communication.
- Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
- Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
- Call clients for follow up and to discuss results.
- Set standards of care/protocols for medical and surgical areas.
- Maintain practice growth and review financial reports.
- Communicate clearly and accurately through written and verbal interactions.
- Work in collaboration with practice manager for administrative management.
- Deal with clients in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- Mentor team members in the training program for career advancement and personal development towards goals.
- Provide feedback and changes to the training program.
- Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well.
- Provide input to the hospital manager for360-degreeemployee performance evaluations.
- Ability to lead and establish a vision for the practice team.
- Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
- Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.
- Ability to demonstrate p atience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis. Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections .
- Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients .
- Know ledge of the common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.
- Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia.
- The employee must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
- To perform this job successfully it will be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software .
