Supervisor, Building Services and Grounds - ( 250000UG ) Description

JOB PURPOSE The Supervisor, Building Services and Grounds will train, direct and supervise
contracted/MLGW employees engaged in general custodial and grounds
maintenance activities, such as janitorial, grounds maintenance, irrigation,
landscaping, snack/drink vending, pest control, fire alarm, fire suppression
systems, sprinkler system monitoring/maintenance, elevator maintenance, trash
removal, food service, upholstery cleaning, paper/can/plastic bottle recycling,
document shredding, dust mop servicers, assist with parking assignments, and
oversee services associated with maintaining buildings and properties at all
MLGW properties and buildings; ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Has the authority to
select employees, transfer, promote, discipline, handle grievances and other
managerial functions. Schedule, assign and coordinate departmental work with
other internal/external entities. Plan and layout departmental work to ensure
timely completion of work commitments; inspect work to ensure an adequate
quantity/quality of work is achieved; provide information and instructions to
employees/contractors and resolve problems. Responsible for controlled use of
chemical applications, safe work practices of employees, and overall operation
of the area including the proper utilization of materials, equipment and human
resources, fire safety/evacuations, etc. Conduct, facilitate and attend meetings.
contract/RFP bid orientations, meet with potential and present vendors/
contractors. Prepare, review and/or verify various reports such as responsibility
budget, inventory, performance appraisals, time and mileage, contract/RFP's,
contractor's invoices, etc. Stay abreast of Division policies/procedures; ensure
proper compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, standards
and up-to-date developments and techniques in the Building Services and
Grounds field. Operate Division vehicle/radio and office/computer equipment.
Perform other duties as directed.

Qualifications

LICENSES AND
CERTIFICATIONS
A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.

A valid Chemical Applicator's Certification is required.
EDUCATION High school diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) is required.
EXPERIENCE 2 years of leadership experience is required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Must successfully complete Supervisor Assessment Center within 90 days of
hire. Must successfully complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job.
Must have a significant combination of working job knowledge, good
communications (verbal/ written), demonstrated analytical, problem solving and
decision-making abilities, customer relations and resource management skills;
abilities to plan, formulate and execute policies and programs; promoting safe
work practices; flexibility to adjust to changing conditions. Works inside most of
the time under good conditions. Subject to hazards associated with normal shop
work. Physical Demands: Climbing, balancing,
bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, walking and standing while
making field inspections.
