Job Description
As a Construction Superintendent, you’ll lead concrete construction projects from footings to finishes, working hands-on with your crew while traveling 100% of the time to project sites nationwide. You’ll manage schedules, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate with stakeholders while actively participating in labor-intensive tasks. This role demands a leader who thrives in the field, not the trailer, and can inspire teams through action during demanding day-to-night transitions at various U.S. locations.
Responsibilities
- Lead concrete construction teams, actively engaging in hands-on tasks (e.g., formwork, finishing, layout).
- Perform physical labor, including lifting up to 80 pounds, as a core part of daily duties.
- Plan, execute, and complete projects on time and within budget across multiple U.S. sites.
- Ensure compliance with ADA, OSHA, and MSHA standards, leading by example in safety protocols.
- Delegate tasks effectively to empower crew members while maintaining accountability.
- Communicate clearly with crews, subcontractors, and clients to align on project goals.
- Manage schedules, materials, and heavy equipment usage in dynamic field conditions.
- Adapt to aggressive day-to-night schedules, varying weather, and constant travel.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in concrete construction, with 2+ years in a supervisory role leading field crews.
- Physical Ability: Must lift up to 80 pounds and perform hands-on construction tasks daily.
- Travel: Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time to project sites nationwide, with no fixed home base.
- Skills:
- Proven leadership in the field, with a track record of working alongside crews.
- Expertise in blueprint reading, setting elevations, layout, concrete forms, and finishing.
- Proficiency with heavy equipment and construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).
- Strong communication and delegation skills to build confident, capable teams.
- Qualifications: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, ability to pass drug test and physical.
- Adaptability: Comfortable with nationwide travel, night shifts, and challenging weather.
- Language: Fluent in English; Spanish fluency is a plus.
