Construction Estimator

Gunter Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator with 10+ years of civil construction experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dirt work, streetscapes with a proven ability to produce accurate and competitive estimates for projects. This role requires precision, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely and accurate material takeoffs.
• Correctly read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and addenda.
• Accurately set up each job in bidding software and maintain bid records.
• Collaborate with the Project Administrator to provide bid details for subcontractor and vendor invitations.
• Prepare accurate estimates for both self-perform work and general contracting bids using estimating software.
• Produce 3–4 complete estimates per week while managing multiple bids in the pipeline.
• Establish priorities and manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
• Uphold the highest level of professionalism and ethics when interacting with clients, subcontractors, and industry partners.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to support repeat business.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction estimating (dirt work, streetscapes)
• Strong math skills and analytical ability.
• Proven track record of successful bid awards and project outcomes.
• Ability to read blueprints and fully understand project specifications.
• Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Familiarity with KCMO, MoDOT, and KDOT standard specifications.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and detail.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to make independent decisions in the best interest of the company.
• Strong business acumen and relationship-building skills with clients and subcontractors.
