Job Description
West Coast Contractors, Inc. is looking for an experienced project manager to oversee complex marine projects from pre-construction to completion, managing budgets, schedules, and resources, coordinating with diverse teams, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and communicating with clients and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include contract administration, risk mitigation, site inspections, progress reporting, and leading project teams. Qualifications include a relevant Bachelor's degree and several years of experience in marine or heavy civil construction project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Lifecycle Management: Manage all phases of a project, from initial planning and pre-construction to execution, monitoring, and final completion.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, track costs, oversee job costing, and handle change orders to ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints.
- Scheduling and Planning: Create, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules and work plans using tools like MS Project.
- Team Coordination: Lead and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders, including superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
- Risk & Compliance: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and field challenges, ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, USACE).
- Contract Administration: Oversee the execution of contracts, manage RFIs (Requests for Information), and process change orders.
- Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to meet project specifications and technical requirements.
- Reporting & Communication: Provide regular project updates, generate status reports, and maintain consistent communication with all stakeholders.
- Site Management: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure work aligns with plans, and address issues as they arise.
- Logistics & Procurement: Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment logistics, and material delivery.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or 5+ years of experience in construction project management, with a significant portion focused on heavy civil or marine projects.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of construction principles, project management software (e.g., MS Project, Bid 2 Win, Viewpoint, CAD), and financial management.
- Specific Marine Experience: Familiarity with marine-specific construction activities like pile driving, dredging, cofferdams, and marine lifts are often required.
- Leadership & Communication: Self-starter with excellent communication, leadership, accountability, and organizational skills to effectively manage teams and stakeholders.
