Project Engineer

West Coast Contractors, Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Engineer. Project Mix will consist of Heavy, Highway, Bridge and Marine Construction. This position focuses on planning, execution, and quality while ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines and safety regulations.  

Project Engineer Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Design:
  • Conceptualize and design projects to meet objectives.
  • Develop project plans, including detailed schedules and resource allocations.
  • Review technical documents and ensure compliance with specifications. 
• Execution & Coordination:
  • Oversee project execution and coordinate with internal teams, supervisors, and external contractors.
  • Manage subcontractors, material procurement, and equipment requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between all project participants to resolve conflicts and address issues. 
• Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Ensure projects meet engineering, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor and manage quality control processes and conduct performance testing. 
• Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain and control all project-related documentation, including RFIs and submittals.
  • Track project progress, costs, and schedules, and provide internal and external reports to stakeholders. 
• Problem-Solving:
  • Apply technical expertise and critical thinking to identify and troubleshoot project-related problems.
  • Assist in managing change orders and compiling project close-out documents. 

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: A degree in engineering (e.g., mechanical, IT) and proficiency in relevant software. 
• Project Management: Strong abilities in planning, scheduling, resource management, and budget oversight. 
• Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, teams, and other stakeholders. 
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: The capacity to analyze technical information and solve complex problems independently or as part of a team. 
• Organization: High levels of organization to manage multiple projects and maintain detailed project records.
